I am one of the graduates this year.
Our salary that appear on the offer is 4000, but you say "Generally speaking, graduates can only get 2000 when they join, in 3 months, 2500, 6 months, 2800." Why?

Cherish What You Have Already Got
when i joined the new company in December of 2007, i felt that in fact, FB (Freeborders) was a good company. it was same that when i joined FB, i felt that Yuangwang was a good company, where i was practising and performing the graduation design. What doese this tell? Your current situation is not so bad as you imagine, and you should really cherish what you have already got.

Should They Come To FB
Now it is time to recall FB. Is it good for graduates? It depends on what department and position you choose. if you choose PLM, it is really very bad. There what you can only do is to help do the trivial things, such as packing, installing, verifying and so on, or became a software tester. Software tester is really so poor, you can't nearlly learn anything. PSA department is somewhat better than PLM. PSA is used to train the graduates. After the training, they will go to other departments. Graduates who learn .net should not go to FB, those who learn java should come, for there is nearlly no any .net project except the PLM, but PLM is just for veteran.

FB's Salary
FB's salary is neither high nor low. The salary is mainly based on your ability and what you have contributed to FB. some of us mostly in PLM department have stayed in FB for nearlly two years, but they get lower than 3000. But some have got more than 4000 in other departments. Generally speaking, graduates can only get 2000 when they join, in 3 months, 2500, 6 months, 2800. July is often the time to regulate the salary, but no everyone has the chance to get higher salary--i don't know how much percent are able to. So some graduates' salary is still same, 2800. I heard that one of friends in Huawei was going to join FB, and FB offered the salary of 7000, but he refused at last for some personal reasons. So, FB's salary is different from different people. It depends on you. Please remember one important thing: When you pass the probation period, do fill the application and hand it in to your leader, then require your leader to submit it to Human Resource Department, or there will be no change in your salary. Take me for example, i came to FB in July of 2006, my probation period was from July of 2006 to January of 2007, in February of 2007, i got the salary and found that there was no change. I thought at that time the Human Resource Department had forgot to add the salary, and next month they should remember, but in March, the situation was same, then i couldn't bear it any more, Andy, who had the same situation with me, and i talked to Jerry, who was our leader. After we had filled the application and Jerry had submitted it to Human Resource Department, something finally changed. But FB didn't compensate us, so Andy and I had lost several hundreds. Oh one more thing, if you don't satisfy with your salary, you should talk to your leader, you may get the chance to change it. Your legal rights should be striven for by yourself. Nobody is going to help you except yourself.

FB's Welfare
Honestly speaking, FB provides very good welfare, even though it is far poorer than it used to be. It used to provide three meals a day, but now, no any meals only 5 Yuan subsidy per day. There are abundant equipments for physical sports in company, such as pingpong ball table, running machine and so on. And people can go to play badmintoon on Monday in Dachong elementary schoo, and tennis and basketball on the playground--FB has paid for it, so you don't have to pay any money.

My Experience in FB
i had spent my most time in PLM department. I strongly recommend that graduates should not go there, luckly, this department has collapsed. The endless overwork is very common in PLM. On Tuesday and Thursday, people are required to overwork from 20:00 to 22:00, and overwork a whole day on Saturday. At the beginning, you will feel disgust, but later you will get used to it, if one night you don't need to overwork, you will feel uncomfortabel or something bodeful. But i dare say they lack of efficiency. Some people often chat with friends there. I like an abandoned child in PLM, no team wants to accept me, so i just help do the trivial things. It is really a wrong choice for me to go to PLM. PLM has wasted my one whole year time. I think i have gained very little from PLM. And i have difficulty to get along with the PLM leaders, except Jerry (Jerry is always very kind), but i know that where the problem is mainly from, and i think if i were them, i would do the same. I realized at that moment how you can get respect from others. Anyway, PLM has became a history, no need to recount the gain and loss.

I don't hate FB, I even like it, but when PLM is mentioned, i feel disgusted at once. My experience in PLM was so disappointing. Before 2007, Andy and i joined in the team PLM Support of PLM Department, but we couldn't help anything except some English documents, worse still, there were no training, and they didn't seem to spend any time in training us. The first leader of PLM Support was Jacky, and the second leader was Su. They thought we couldn't make any contribution, so they decided to abandon us. Andy was appointed to another team, and i, according to Su's words, the best choice for me was going to Test Team, and he promised he would call me back if i met the qualification. I knew that was a trap, waiting for me to jump into it, so i was very reluctant and depressed. Truely speaking, a middle school student was competent of testing. Luckly, before long, Neil, the top leader of the whole PLM department, talked to us that another team called Data Entry needed us, and in his words, we would have plenty of spare time in that team to practise .NET. We never had any choices. That was how we were in Data Entry. So what was our main job in Data Entry? You can get the literal meaning from its name. Our main job was to just input thousands of records for costomers. Even a child from kindergarten was able to do it well. The job was very boring. We had stayed in Data Entry for about 3 months. One day, we were called to have a meeting with Neil. He told us that we shouldn't stay in Data Entry any longer, and PLM Level 2 Support Team was on the drawing board, and we should be there. Then we were in PLM Level 2 Support, and Jerry was our leader. Only 3 people were in this team.

People should know what was PLM Level 2 Support, whose main job was to communicate with foreign clients to solve their problems. I was not good at English, especially listening English, though some people thought that i was, so i was worried whether i was able to. But I had the reason to comfort myself--Andy was besides me, who was a great talent and able to solve any difficulty. At the beginning, we were not so busy, so we had kept on practising English day after day. And i focused all my attention on listening English, which was my weakness. Andy spent almost 6 hours a day on English, and i spent more, sometimes enven 10 hours. We had listened many materials, such as VOA Special, VOA Normal, and so on, and we always appeared in the English Training Class. Finally we had made some progress. Most of the time in Level 2 Support, we were free, and most problems were solved by Andy. So in June of 2007, Andy and I were transfered to Testing Team to help finish some trivial things, such as installing the website, packing, and so one. And Andy was still responsible for most of the job. Andy was really so capable. There was only Jerry, the commander in Level 2 Support, in other words, Level 2 Support existed in name only.

In September, Andy got an offer, and before this, Chandle had left FB, who was our best friend in FB. I knew what Andy's leave meant to me. In fact, in May he had gone for some interviews. so I had been desperate to submit my resume on internet, but failure all the time. After Andy's leave, i had to take over his job. Since then, i had been so busy. I had been working from 9:00 in the morning to 22:00 at night without any break. I had to go to company on Saturdays, sometimes even Sundays. I had no any time for my Computer Internet Engineer Exam, and i had given it up for many times.

In the middle of October, I got out of PLM Department and was in Bench Department, where people without any positions like me were placed. I was so excited. I knew I could take a break, I could get ready for the Computer Internet Engineer Exam. Oh, God, i felt liberated. I was completely free in Bench, and i picked up the Computer Internet Engineer Exam again and made some preparation for it. There was a project team called GRS in Bench Department, so after the exam, i began to engage in it, but i found that they had almost finished that project, and i had been isolated by them. Then fear rushed to my mind. I were even sometimes insomnious. I understood well that if i didn't participate in any project, i would learn nothing, and i might be dismissed by FB. I had been fearing for a month, then the offer camed. It came so late, but it eventually came. I accepted it without any doubt and began to work in the new company at the end of December. By the way, during the period when i was staying in Bench, PLM Department had collapsed, and many people had been discharged, which had proved my fear--if i had still stayed in Bench, i would certainly end like them before the new year. Thanks God.

How Is The Compensation
Tell something about the compensation. Many people resign when PLM collapses, leaving a very troublesome problem--the compensation for overworking during the plenty of nights and Saturdays. Fairly speaking, after the violent struggling for legal rights and compromise of both sides, the final resolvent is somewhat resonable, though i get just a small portion. Anyway, people should strive for their regal rights by themsleves, and sometimes compromise of both sides is unavoidable.
